It is not easy to define the word world. The scriptures speak of the "ruler of this world" (John 12:31); of "the course of this world" (Ephesians 2:2), which is according to "god of this world" (2 Corinthians 4:4 KJV); of "the spirit of this world," which is contrary to the Spirit of God (1 Corinthians 2:12); of "the form of this world," which is passing away (1 Corinthians 7:31); and of the wisdom of this world, which "crucified the Lord of Glory" (1 Corinthians 2:8). Little wonder, then, that God says: "Do not love the world"
